About ServCity

ServCity is a research programme here to help cities solve a problem: how they can harness the latest autonomous vehicle technologies and successfully incorporate them into a complex urban environment.

Over 30 months, six partners – Nissan, the Connected Places Catapult, TRL, Hitachi, SBD and the University of Nottingham – are working together to develop a blueprint that directly tackles the barriers to deploying autonomous vehicles in cities.

Through simulation, end-user experience research and real-world testing, ServCity will inform how cities can exploit the potential of autonomous mobility solutions and accelerate their deployment.

Our tests will be conducted in test facilities prior to public road testing in London with state-of-the-art autonomous vehicles utilising the Nissan LEAF.

To advance the progress of autonomous mobility services in complex urban environments we need to go beyond just the technology and think about the whole journey.

That’s why we’re concentrating on three areas:

ServCity’s six partners combine new thinking, domain expertise and a collaborative approach to tackle this challenge.

Our findings will inform future research, and work towards a future of mobility for everyone.
